About the Course

The SAFE Method™

Each year, the number of young children and adolescents participating in organized sports activity increases, and unfortunately so do the number of injuries.  Most of these injuries are managed with simple treatment and rest, but occasionally there will be a situation needing quick decisions at the time of injury.  How does a coach or parent decide whether an injury is mild, serious, or something in between?   Will you know how to make this decision on the field, during a game, and possibly with a highly emotional player (and parent) looking on?  Some leagues provide basic injury management training to their coaches, but surprisingly, many others have no formal requirements at all for sideline safety training.

Sideline Sports Doc’s goal is to teach you how to recognize a mild injury, a moderate injury, or a severe injury.  This course is not going to teach you how to diagnose and provide the final treatment for an injury.  Leave that to the professionals, such as a physician or an athletic trainer.

Learn From World-Class Team Physicians

This course is designed to be a clear, concise, and practical method bringing decades of sideline team physician experience to you. Our content is produced by world class team physicians, including Dr. Bert Mandelbaum (long time US Soccer national team physician and head team physician for the L.A. Galaxy), and Dr. Jeff Mjaanes (US Soccer national team physician and head team physician for the Chicago Fire).

Learn Any Way You Like- About An Hour

You can learn the material by viewing the online videos (most effective), or by listening to audio mp3 chapters (most time efficient, listen to a chapter anywhere you’d like, zero added time in your day), or by reading the pdf book.  The material is designed with the busy coach in mind. You’ll need to answer some brief quiz questions online, regardless of how you choose to learn the material.

The Most Important Thing You’ll Learn: A Rapid, Reliable, and Simple On Field Evaluation Method. Any Sport. Anytime. Any Age Group.

The cornerstone of the course is our on-fleld evaluation method.  We teach you the four critical steps you must take each time a player is injured, regardless of the type of injury.   If you know these basic principles you will be able to quickly evaluate the injuries you will encounter in youth soccer and be able to recognize injuries that require immediate medical attention, or ones that can safely resume play.

Wishing you and your players good health and success.
