- Sports Medicine Weekly is an excellent podcast for any athletes or others with an interest in sports health
- The show is hosted by Dr. Brian Cole of Midwest Orthopaedics at Rush, and Steve Kashul, the radio announcer for the Chicago Bulls
Brief post this week to point you in the direction of one of Sideline Sports Doc’s media partners- Sports Medicine Weekly broadcast on Chicago’s 670 The Score radio station. The show combines the viewpoints of Dr. Brian Cole, who addresses sports health and fitness topics from an orthopedic team physician perspective, and Steve Kashul, the broadcast voice of the Chicago Bulls, who presents from the listener’s perspective. You can find other sports health podcasts but the unique angles from Sports Medicine Weekly is why I particularly like it. You’ll also find a huge range of topics, including nutrition, fitness tips, and updates on injuries to professional athletes.
The show does have a somewhat Chicagoland centric feel, which is totally understandable given that their broadcast partner focuses on that area. But the topics can definitely be applied anywhere you live.
Another nice aspect is the seasonality of their presentations, focusing on current trending topics and sports that are in-season.
I recently had an opportunity to be a guest on the show. We focused on the key areas of emphasis for Sideline Sports Doc (increasing awareness of on-field injury recognition for coaches through The SAFE Method™), and where we’d like to go in the near future (launching our app- called Good To Go – which will help parents and adult athletes). Plus, one of my dogs makes an unscheduled “appearance” part way through. 🙂 The show will appeal to all athletes and health/fitness professionals. I encourage you to check it out.
